Becoming the Parent You Want to Be Buffy Halvorsen

Mario Cuomo said, “I talk and talk and talk, and I haven’t taught people in fifty years what my father taught me by example in one week.” We try to learn how to discipline when in reality we need to learn how to live well. The word Discipline comes from the word Disciple. We must learn how to be Disciples of our Heavenly Father so that our children will learn how to be His disciples by our example more than our words.”

Socializing to Save Panel Discussion

Learn techniques how you can make a difference for Christ in your neighborhood and community from a group of ladies who are doing it!

Abuse: No Longer Asking, “Why?” Osa Berg

Through my ex-husband’s abuse I lost my ability to think clearly, to function and all my self-respect. When I fell on my knees and screamed to God to help me, He did. He led my boys and I to understand that asking “why” is not the question He wants from us, His plans are far bigger than that. Statistics about spousal abuse, both in the mid-west and nationally, are astronomically high. We know it is just as prevalent in our churches, how do we address it? A few victims in a church will need many helpers, but ‘she’ can not ask for help, we have to learn to find ‘her’.

Engaging the Young Adults in Your Church Amy Prindle

Current research shows that the majority of congregations are made up of mostly adults 40+ or children below the age of 12. The least common age group in congregations today are the 20- and 30-somethings. What is happening with these generations in between? Let’s talk about why these youth and young adult age groups may not be fully engaged in today’s congregations and what we can do to make sure they feel welcomed, appreciated, and involved. Let’s discover the tremendous blessing these age groups can be to our churches and how the churches can be a blessing to them in return.

I’m Okay, You’re Okay Nancy Buxton

Think about the origin of low self esteem and you cannot help but come to the conclusion that it is somehow part of the larger sin problem of our planet. God created the world perfect. He made a man and woman in His image, individuals who understood their value as a son and daughter of God. With the entrance of sin came guilt, fear, worry, failure and low self esteem. We will explore the issue of low self esteem and see how we are the apple of His eye!
